I ended up choosing Eliza from the Wild Thornberrys, I felt so akin to her, both ginger, both slightly gawky looking, both with braces, but she could talk to animals. I thought this was pretty awesome. Although I do wonder now whether animals would be as nice as my childhood self imagined. I expect they’d scathingly insult our fashion sense and personal hygiene. Anyway, for Eliza’s sake, and for my sake as well, I hope she got less gawky as she grew up, the risk of becoming a crazy cat lady or adopting a monkey as her child was high.
